Was Peter Kaembe bullied in school?
Peter’s mother, Monica Wanjiku, tearfully recounted her last moments with him at the hospital as he shared what had happened.
Wanjiku said she found her son seated on the hospital floor and asked what was wrong.
He told her he had been bullied by students from his school and, while trying to escape, encountered students from a neighbouring school as well.
In a panic, he tried to cross the road but failed to see an oncoming car, which hit him.
“He said he was running while crossing the road and couldn’t remember what exactly happened. He said he couldn’t hear anything through his left ear and was feeling a lot of pain on that side of the head as well,” she explained through tears.
The grieving mother added that an X-ray revealed severe injuries that had caused internal bleeding.
A few hours later, Peter began vomiting blood and eventually passed away.
“The entire left side of his head looked like it had been sliced. The doctors did their best to save him, but he didn’t make it. My child died, he left me,” said the devastated mum.

Nakuru family seeks justice for late son
The family is now seeking justice and has called for a thorough investigation to determine what really happened.
They are also demanding an official statement from the school regarding the alleged bullying groups, even as Nakuru police continue to probe the matter.
“I just want to know what happened to my son. I know it won’t bring him back, but I need to know,” Wanjiku said.
Following the incident, students from Peter’s school held protests on Monday, July 28, prompting the management to close the school indefinitely.
The protest began at around 8 am along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway, with students calling for accountability and the arrest of those allegedly involved in the assault.
How do you handle grief after losing loved ones?
TUKO.co.ke spoke to a psychologist who explained that grief manifests differently in different people.
Jedida Wafula said some individuals may become depressed, withdraw from family and friends, or stop engaging in their usual activities.
"Grief affects people in different ways. While some may cope well and grieve for a short period, others struggle. It doesn’t necessarily end—some may find themselves mourning years after losing a loved one," she said.

Many were particularly heartbroken that the boy was fleeing from bullies, with parents saying something needed to be done to combat bullies, especially in high schools.
Here are some of the comments:
Monic Miano
"At times, I wonder do teachers know what goes on in those schools and ignore, or if they don't know, 😭 does that mean there are no leaders like head boys, etc in such schools to protect others and report crooks or what goes on."
