  • Munengi Mulandi has been ousted as the senior pastor at the Nairobi Baptist Church, Ngong Road, a move that has shocked many people, Christians and non-Christians alike
  • According to the church elders' council, Munengi engaged in some behaviour with church members, and now they can't tell whether he is a man of God or not
  • The church also said that it is going to check on people who had been impacted by his behaviour, and while launching a probe on him as well

The church, one of the most famous ones in Nairobi, broke the news in a letter, and although it was dated June 1, it was shared with Kenyans on August 3.

"Munengi Mulandi is no longer serving as the Senior Pastor at the Nairobi Baptist Church following serious allegations of misconduct. His actions were incompatible with the calling of a servant of Jesus Christ and responsibilities of ordained pastoral ministry," said the Elders Council in a letter.

"After prayerful consideration, the elders made a decision to revoke his ordination. This means that as a church, we can no longer affirm he is qualified to be a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ," read another part.

Kenyans ask why Nairobi Baptist is hiding the sin?

After reading the letter, some people were concerned that the church brought the news to the public without indicating the sin committed (following the misconduct committed).

"The letter is like a jobless man coming out to sack a man who is not jobless simply because of pride. Why not keep everything a secret and act discreetly according to what you believe is right, rather than giving a view that only sees you as the angel and the pastor as the devil?" asked a pastor from the Gifted Ministry FBO
"I am not defending the pastor, but what is worth doing is worth doing right. Especially when it comes to the air for the public. If you still see what you do to be right in your mind, then continue, but don't forget the end of the race is not in pride; it is in eternity, either in heaven or hell," he told TUKO.co.ke.

How did Kenyans react to Munengi's story?

Richard Kavila:

"Let the investigations be done and tabled in public so that justice can be seen to be done. Painful as it may sound but the body of Christ needs to be transparent in its dealings."

Kalpana KC:

"He still lists himself as a senior pastor, that is misleading others. Please take appropriate action."

Daniel Ndwiga Njeru:

"So sad. While I acknowledge I don't know the gravity of the matter, should we have launched the independent investigation before releasing the statement? Just a thought.May the body of Christ in this space find healing."

Joseph Ouma:

"By the tile the elders of a respectable church are coming out like this, i think they know what they zre saying and doing and not mentioning the sin is deliberate to protect the image of the individuals involved. Just thinking thaty we pray for them instead."

Pastor Ng'ang'a ejects man from crusade

In another story, Neno Evangelism founder Pastor James Ng'ang'a chased a man away from his crusade for recording with a phone.

The tough preacher stressed the importance of concentrating on the word of God during the service.

The man of God defended his actions, saying the man disrupted worship, and quickly ordered that he be removed from the crusade.
