Godfrey Makale told TUKO.co.ke that he lost his job at a bank in Nairobi in June 2024 and was forced to relocate to Kitale.
“I stayed for a while trying to search for other opportunities, but I could no longer afford to pay my rent. The landlord threw my family and me out, leaving me with no choice but to return to my village in January 2025,” said Makale.

He shared that he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Gender and Development Studies from Kenyatta University and has over five years of experience.
“I was lucky. I graduated and, that same year, got a job at a bank until last year when I lost it due to some work-related issues,” he said.
Where are Godfrey Makale’s wife and kids?
The 36-year-old father of two noted that following his downfall, his wife returned to her parents’ home with their children.
Makale said he stays in touch with his family, sends his wife upkeep whenever he can, and sometimes his children visit him. However, he longs for all of them to live under one roof, as they did before.
Living at his mother’s house while trying to rebuild his life has not been easy.
He currently works at a posho mill that previously belonged to his sister, although he does not make much from it.

“The posho mill had stalled, so I requested my sister to allow me to use it. She did, and I took over and started running it. In a day, I can make KSh 100 or KSh 50, which is barely enough to send my children,” he said.

How to help Kitale man
The father of two said he desperately needs a job that can earn him enough to care for his family.
He added that he is open to any job at the moment, although he has a strong desire to work with travel companies.
“I have been applying for jobs, but I have yet to receive any response. I love planning events, and I spearheaded team-building activities at the bank where I worked. If I could get a company to offer me such a role, I would be happy. However, I am not limited to that – any job would do,” he said.
