Vee took to her TikTok account to narrate her emotional journey of pain, loss, and triumph as she celebrated every win, big or small.
The young woman, now based in the US, revealed that her beloved mother passed away a year before she sat her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
“I stayed out of school for several months but managed to score 288 marks,” she said.

Due to her low score, Vee remained at home as her peers joined high school. Her father, who was a banker, had turned to alcohol and could no longer take care of her and her siblings.
She was eventually taken in by a family friend in Uganda, where she joined high school — a full year after completing Class Eight.
“Sadly, my dad passed away the same year I was to sit my final high school exams, but I soldiered on and scored 31 points in UCE at a school in Kampala,” she shared.
How did Vee end up in Dubai?
Vee returned to Kenya to reunite with her siblings and share the inheritance left by their late father. She received KSh 250,000, which she used to relocate to Dubai at just 18 years old.
“While in Dubai, I tried looking for jobs but couldn’t find any. Two weeks before my planned return to Kenya, I saw a post about Miss Kenya Diaspora, Dubai edition. I applied and won the first round,” she explained.
Through the pageant, Vee was paid and finally had some money to return home. She then joined the Kenyan modelling industry.
In 2018, she became Miss International Kenya and went on to represent the country in Japan. Her main campaign focused on the fight against alcoholism, which she said had contributed to her father's death.

Was Vee’s Schengen visa rejected?
With income from her modelling career, Vee decided to pursue further studies and applied to a college in Switzerland to study finance.
Although she was accepted and had paid half the fees, her visa was declined, forcing her to study online instead.
Still committed to her advocacy against alcohol abuse, Vee was invited to speak at a 2019 conference in Las Vegas on the impact of alcohol and gambling on Kenyan youth, a trip that marked the beginning of her journey in the US.
The young lady noted that she was accepted to study Electrical Engineering at a college in the United States of America.
“I loved everything about the US and began applying to colleges there. I’ve always wanted to pursue education, and this time I got into my dream programme — Electrical Engineering,” she said.
Vee noted that her life has been filled with trials and pain, but also remarkable success.
“I hope my story inspires others, especially those who feel left behind or have faced a lot at a young age, just like I did,” she added.
Why was Kenyan woman denied US visa?
In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that a Kenyan woman claimed the US Embassy in Nairobi denied her a visa without reviewing her documents to verify that she would return.
Carol Gikunda said she was travelling to the US for a visit and had gathered all the documents she believed would be required, but her request was denied.
Fortunately, she made a similar application to the UK mission, which was pleasant, and she finally got to enjoy her holiday.
