Mwihoko, Kiambu: A woman wailed in pain and wobbled on her feet, which made loved ones hurry to hold her after learning that her daughter was dead when a plane hit their building.

On August 7, a Cessna Citation 560 jet belonging to AMREF crashed in Mwihoko, Kiambu county, and killed at least two people.

Reportedly, the aeroplane had taken off from Wilson Airport and lost communication with its control tower shortly before it crashed.

How did the girl, 13, from Mwihoko die?

After the initial shock wore off, Good Samaritans started helping with the rescue of the people who had been trapped under the debris.

According to some eyewitnesses, the plane also hit a building on its way down; a part of the building was brought down, and some houses were left with gaping holes.

The woman who was wailing was among those whose houses were affected, and her daughter, who was only 13 years old, died in the terrible accident.

"So sad a mother has to accept a sad reality that her child is gone and never coming back .The 13 years old girl was in the house cooking," said Derrick Mbugua who witnessed the woman breaking down.
