Hope has been restored for the family of Millicent Maina, a mother of two from Githurai, who has been bedridden for four years.

Millicent gained public attention after her plight was shared by actress Dorea Chege and her partner, DJ Dibul.

She tearfully narrated how she had been suffering from multiple critical illnesses and the daily struggles of her young sons, who had become her primary caregivers.

Comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi stepped in and rallied Kenyans online to contribute towards Millicent’s medical and personal needs.

Kenyans showed immense support, and the mother of two was admitted to the hospital.

When was Millicent Maina discharged from hospital?

In a post shared on Thursday, August 7, Omondi announced that Millicent had finally been discharged after several weeks in hospital.

He also revealed that his Team Sisi Kwa Sisi had moved the woman into another apartment, as plans to build her a new house are underway.

“Hey guys, quick update, the doctors discharged our mum today. Mum is officially out of danger and officially on her way to recovery. We got her and the boys a nice apartment to stay in as we begin building for her, her dream house. We will also secure the boys’ full education by opening an education trust fund. May God bless you,” said Omondi.

The comedian thanked Kenyans who supported Millicent, noting that she is currently stable.

He shared that she would be under the care of nurses from Doctor Nurse Homecare so that her sons could focus on school.

“I want to say thanks to everyone who stood by me. May God bless you and fill your cups,” said Millicent.

Moreover, Omondi announced that Kenyans had contributed KSh 11.5 million towards the woman’s care and for building her a home.

Netizens praised Omondi’s efforts, with some even suggesting he should run for president in 2027. Many expressed joy at seeing the boys relieved of the heavy responsibilities they had carried for years.

In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Millicent shared she had been ready to die following her struggle with illness and her inability to move or care for her children.

She revealed that she had contemplated ending her life after seeing her young son change her diaper, administer her medication, and care for her.

However, her son told her he was aware she was thinking of poisoning them before doing the same to herself and discouraged her, assuring her that all would be well.
