Quinn Elsa beat cancer
For philanthropist Ndungu Nyoro, who first met Quinn in 2016 at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), the news is a reminder of how acts of compassion can ripple far beyond their moment.

Eight years ago, Quinn was just three years old, playful and full of energy despite battling stage 3 kidney cancer.
Her mother had approached Nyoro in desperation, explaining how their only child had already undergone surgery to remove one kidney and was enduring intense chemotherapy.
Moved by her plight, Nyoro shared her story online.

Where was Quinn treated?
The response was overwhelming as Kenyans from all walks of life united to raise millions to send her to HCG Hospital in India for specialised treatment.
Quinn's journey was gruelling; chemotherapy claimed her hair, weakened her body, and dimmed her once-bright smile. Yet, Quinn fought bravely.
In time, the cancer was gone. A bone marrow transplant, funded through a second wave of donations, offered her the best chance at a cancer-free life.
She returned to Kenya in 2017, fragile but victorious, and slowly regained her strength, beauty, and trademark playfulness.
Quinn's return to the public
A few days ago, Quinn appeared in public at the Sigona Golf Club, not as a patient but as a supporter of others.
She attended an Affecto Watoto wa Mungu Wasome event, helping raise funds to keep vulnerable children in school.
Her presence was a powerful symbol: the girl who once relied on strangers’ kindness was now extending her own to those in need. The renewed attention on her journey prompted yet another act of generosity.
Moved by her story, Stream Beauty & SPA contacted Nyoro with an offer: they would ensure Quinn’s hair remains in perfect shape throughout the year.
“They said she deserves a good one until she sits for her Grade 6 exams,” Nyoro said. “And honestly, with the way she carries herself, it looks like our little one could easily become a model.”
It’s a sentiment shared by many who have followed her journey.

Quinn’s story isn’t just about surviving cancer; it’s about emerging stronger, more radiant, and determined to make a difference.
Her story, once a tale of fear and uncertainty, is now one of hope, beauty, and the joy of paying kindness forward.
And perhaps, as her Grade 6 exams draw closer, Kenya might just see the rise of its next young model: one who already knows how to walk through life’s toughest runways with grace.
