Kasarani: Lecturer Found Dead at 2nd Wife's Home, Family Speaks Painfully

  • Allan Kitavi is a well-known figure in Komarock, as he headed the residents' association for many years and later on became the chairman of the body's board of trustees
  • A CCTV footage shared with the police showed what took place and robbed the life of a man who had retired and was working as a farmer

Thome Estate, Nairobi: Allan Kitavi, the chairman of the Komarock Residents Association Board of Trustees, has allegedly been murdered.

Kitavi, who doubled up as a lecturer, was found dead at his second wife's driveway in Thome Estate, and his step-son was arrested as the main suspect.

It has emerged that Kitavi was allegedly murdered at his home in Thome, and the first family said that they received the first call from their siblings at around 9.00 pm, stating that their father had been found lying unconscious in the driveway.

"A young university boy reported at Marurui Police Station and it is like the neighbours have activated their alarms because when they heard screams they all came out," said Dorothy Kitavi, his first wife.

How did Kitavi's son find his dad's body?

"I saw my father's body without clothes lying on the floor, burnt with serious neck wounds and blood coming out of his nose and head. It was a really dark picture."

According to his daughter, Kitavi was chairman in Komarock residents for very many years, even before becoming the chairman of the board of trustees.

"My dad was involved in so many things in the community, here in Komarock and has a bit of a legacy.

According to CCTV footage, two men are seen strolling to Kitavi's house at about 7.30 pm. At around 8.00 pm, Kitavi strolled casually to the house with no care in the world.

At around 8.40 pm, the first suspect comes out, and at 8.41 pm another follows him. Those were the clips used to arrest Stephen Kioko, his step-son.

How was Kitavi's step-son involved in his death?

According to Alloyce Bett, the DCIO of Kasarani sub-county, the stepson was caught on camera and recognised by eyewitnesses as being around when Kitavi was murdered.

The Komarock Residents' Association called for speedy investigations into the matter.

Allan Kitavi's last moments

Earlier, the family had revealed Kitavi's last moments on the day of death.

They said Kitavi arrived home at 5pm on Thursday, July 31, and he was visibly in high spirits as he interacted with them.

He stepped out of the house shortly after, saying he was going to the nearby shopping centre to run some personal errands.

This is the last time he was seen alive, as the family waited for him to come back, but he did not.

By the time it was 10 pm, they grew anxious, because it was uncommon for Kitavi to be out late.

The family would later stumble on his remains 25 metres from the homestead, and the condition of his remains showed his attackers had partially set them on fire.

In another story, a man identified as Ssekanjako Vincent, 40, left his home with his three-year-old stepson, claiming that he was going to buy a soft drink but never returned home.

It emerged that the suspect fought with his wife, identified as Nakintu Florence, after she learnt that he had allegedly stolen a television, smartphone, and cash from their house.

Following a search for the child, his dead body was found in a room just next to their home.
