"I woke up in the morning and decided to do some cleaning. I was sweeping when I was hit by a pungent odour. I traced the smell and looked through the curtain from where it was coming. I called a friend and asked why there were insects in the house and such a strong smell," she shared.

Innocent’s neighbour said they could not do much, so they called a man to come and give them instructions.

She said no one knew for sure if there was a dead person inside, but the smell raised suspicion.

"Even on the third and fourth day, he was inside, but we didn’t know that Innocent was dead. He used to knock on my door and request water or even food. Sometimes I would take the food to him, and he would bring back the utensils the following day.

She confirmed that his body did not have any injuries or marks suggesting a struggle.

"Innocent was a miner and boda boda operator, but he had said his motorbike needed repairs, so he was not going to work for a while. He used to leave his house in the evening, but during the day, he was always at home," she added.
