Two families have been thrown into mourning following a shocking incident that has sent waves of grief through the community.

A man, Emmanuel, is accused of killing his wife, Martha Pius, in their home at night following a fight.

The reason for the domestic dispute that led to Martha’s death was allegedly jealousy.

Residents and family members of the deceased said the boda boda operator did not want his wife to leave the house.

Police visit Emmanuel's home to confirm crime

“His desire was that whenever he returned home, he would find his wife there. He did not want her leaving the house at all. He wanted her confined to the four walls of their shelter,” a neighbour said.

Following the act, Emmanuel surrendered himself to the police the following afternoon, confessing the murder.

Police immediately took action to arrest him and visited his home to confirm his confession.

They found Martha’s body lying on the bed, covered with a sheet, before ferrying it to the mortuary.

An autopsy revealed that the deceased was six months pregnant, adding to the family’s grief.

The results also showed that the pregnant woman had been strangled, as there were no traces of blood in the house.

Martha’s sister was heartbroken as she recounted her sibling’s troubled marriage.

“They were always having fights. We advised her to leave him, or at least take a break, but she still stayed. Emmanuel would return home drunk and cause chaos. It has been going on for a long time. He once almost set her on fire,” she said.

Emmanuel’s mother was devastated, tears flowing freely as she recounted her last moments with her son.

She revealed that he was not mentally stable and had sent her disturbing messages before the incident.

“He knew what he was going to do. He sent me messages asking for my forgiveness and telling me to pray for him. He said we would meet in heaven. He told me that as soon as I received the message, I should not wait long before going to their house to take out their bodies before they decomposed. Something was just not right,” she said, wiping away her tears.

Makueni man attacks wife's father with machete

In a related incident, a middle-aged man in Makueni county allegedly attacked and killed his father-in-law.

The suspect also severely injured his estranged wife in the machete attack.

He fled the scene but later surrendered to police at Sultan Hamud Police Station.

Fortunately, the woman was in stable condition, while the body of the deceased was taken to the Sultan Hamud Hospital morgue.
