A Kenyan woman has come forward with shocking allegations about her time working in Saudi Arabia, painting a grim picture of exploitation, surveillance, and abuse.

How Lilian Muthoni's life changed
In a chilling interview with TUKO Talks, Muthoni says she soon discovered that her new life abroad was a nightmare in waiting.

According to her, her employers monitored her every move, from cooking and cleaning to even showering, and openly discussed her in ways that left her feeling dehumanised.

For a while, she dismissed the invasion of privacy as routine, until her employers started openly discussing private details about her and her family.
“When I tried to request a return ticket home, instead of being helped, I was taken to a police station,” Muthoni recalled.

She claims that after four months in her employer’s household, her phone was confiscated and she was transferred to a deportation centre.
There, she alleges, she was injected with an unknown substance that left her physically affected and mentally unstable.
“My hands were weak, my body was a mess, and I had a nonstop headache. Many people who saw me thought I was mentally unstable,” she said.
Muthoni added that the few times she managed to call her family in Kenya, she was closely monitored.

Muthoni claims ex-employer still controls her
She would go on to spend one and a half years at the deportation centre, isolated and classified as mentally ill, before she was finally flown back to Nairobi.

Although she is now back in Kenya, she insists her ordeal is far from over. Muthoni believes her former employers continue to exert remote psychological control over her life.
She has since become a regular patient at Mathari Mental Hospital, a label she rejects, maintaining that she is mentally sound.
Asked why she believes her former boss is still interested in her life, Muthoni claims it could be tied to the money they spent acquiring her services, only for her to leave midway.
