Chronic Kidney Disease is a condition where the kidneys are damaged or their structure is impaired, preventing them from properly filtering blood.
According to Mayo Clinic, this often leads to a buildup of waste and extra fluid in the body, potentially causing serious health problems.
Doctors recommend that the transplant be done using a first-degree blood relative as the donor, such as a sibling, child, or parent.
The treatment plan includes 12 days of hospital stay for Stacey and five days for the donor, followed by a recovery period of up to 60 days for the patient and between 14 to 21 days for the donor.
How to Support Stacey Wangui's treatment
The estimated cost of the transplant, investigations, post-surgery medication, food, and accommodation is approximately USD 20,500 (around KSh 3 million).
Her guardians and relatives are calling on Kenyans of goodwill to join in prayer, support, and contributions to help save Stacey’s life.
"We are humbly appealing to well-wishers to stand with us in saving Stacey’s life,” Kanaiza pleaded.
