Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Stelle Tande, a woman in his community, shared that Brando is a Grade Five learner from Nyalenda slums, and his mum, who was ailing, sadly died at the Jaramongi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
"Irene Adhiambo Owino went to seek treatment; I received his distress call, and I had to reach out to him physically. Brandon told me the only relative and family he has known all his life is his single mother who left for medication last week,' she said.
"She went to seek treatment at JOOTR (Russia) hospital in Kisumu, and as fate would have it, she didn't have Social Health Authority insurance and didn't meet the prerequisite requirements needed by SHA so she was left unattended and that is how she passed on in the process," he added.

What will happen to Brandon now?
Brandon, being an only child, doesn't have anyone to call family. Tande said that the condition of their house is bad; there is no food in the house, and there is only a tiny, dirty mattress with no bed or bedding; so sad indeed.
"Brandon has a life even after his mother's burial, whose remains lie in the morgue. Look at his school shoes; they are in a very bad state. When I visited him, he didn't have food," she said.

If you're within Kisumu and have an extra bed sheet, bed, duvet, mattress, please reach out we help him even as he prepares to bury his mother," she added.
Tande opined that the case of Adhiambo is another case where the system has failed a citizen and her son.

Boy forced to leave alone talks about his parents
Another story revealed that Shauri John from Tanzania was a sad boy, as his dad sent him to live all alone on a piece of land when he was five years old.
The parents earlier enrolled Shauri in school but later sent him to herd goats for them at the new home, which was 7km away from school.
The goats were eventually sold, and they bought cows for the family; now he has to take care of them, work at home and barely gets time for an education.
