Nandi: Boda Riders' T-Shirt Gesture at Burial of Colleague Stabbed to Death Touches Many

Emgwen, Nandi: Boda boda riders from Kiptamuk village touched many Kenyans after burying their slain colleague with a T-shirt that showed that he was a real hustler.

The young man, Vincent Kiplagat, aka Kiptayat, was allegedly killed by his lover, with whom he lived for many years in his house without much incident. The tragedy happened two weeks ago.

In a Facebook post posted by Gwiji Isaiah, a group of boda boda riders is seen in white T-shirts, with the words Team Mawe inscribed on them, and they sent the deceased down with a similar T-shirt as well.

Kiplagat was eulogised as a humble, loving and kind-hearted young man who mingled with everyone without bias or pride

Why were Nandi residents angry?

"It is sad loosing a young soul whom his family was depending upon through stabbing. I hope justice will be served soonest," one of the mourners remarked.

Sections of bodaboda riders from Kapsabet, Kipsigak, and Namgoi led their teams in mourning one of their own and demanded justice be served to the family.

"The untimely death of Kiplagat who was the breadwinner of his family is very painful, it is not only a deep loss to his loved ones but also to entire Kiptamuk community. We are calling for justice following his painful stabs,"Jacob Kibet said.

As a way of celebrating his hustle, the late Kiptayat was lowered into the grave while his coffin bore the T-shirt showing how he survived to make ends meet as a hustler.

Kiambu man reportedly kills his girlfriend

In another story, a 36-year-old man allegedly killed his 20-year-old lover in Witeithie, Thika, Kiambu county, leaving the community in shock.

In a video seen online, neighbours milled around the rental house on the Tel Aviv street of Witethie after the bodies were discovered.

Reports indicated that the dead man was married and had a child; the details on why he committed the alleged atrocity remained a mystery.
