Disturbed residents recalled hearing a vehicle in the early hours of the morning, followed by a loud thud, which they later believed was the trunk being dumped.

Area councillor Luckson Filongwe immediately alerted police after community members stumbled upon the chilling scene.

Confirming the incident, Copperbelt Police Commissioner Pethias Siandenge told the media that the body bore fresh wounds, suggesting Kapuku was killed elsewhere and later dumped in the trunk.

In a chilling twist, police officers stumbled upon other parts of a human body near Hillcrest Clinic, leading them to suspect the remains belonged to Kapuku, linking the two crime scenes.

Kapuku's girlfriend recalls last moments

The victim was identified by his girlfriend, also a medical student, who told police she last communicated with him on Saturday, August 16.

She revealed he had been driving a black Toyota Mark X, which has not been recovered. His mobile phone also remains missing.

Commissioner Siandenge assured the public that investigations have intensified to track down the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Kapuku’s remains have since been taken to the mortuary as police continue to piece together the shocking murder.
