“This year, I built a house at home. It took us more than 20 years after my father passed on. I was barely seven years old at the time. For so long, we couldn’t afford it, and the weight of that unfinished duty sat with me like a stone. This year, in the middle of one of the hardest seasons of my life, I carried that weight. I built.

My father, Jacob Bariti, once built a house too. Back then, it was one of the village’s jewels. People would pass by and whisper, ‘That’s Bariti’s house.’ It stood proud, and so did he. Today, it doesn’t look like much. The walls are tired, the shine is gone. But for us, that house is proof that a man with little could still give his family everything,” part of the caption read.

She disclosed that she did not come from a privileged background with many benefits, but that never stopped her from working hard.

What gives Kenyan girl untold joy and fulfillment?

It did not deter her from keeping her head high to see her dream of reconstructing her father’s house come to pass.

“We didn’t come from privilege. We had no godfathers and no connections, and a community that didn’t recognise girls as good enough. Didn’t recognise us at all. We didn’t exist. But we had God the Father and the sheer determination to change our parents’ story. What drove me was simple: to take away shame and give our parents a semblance of dignity and to finish some of their dreams. And by God’s grace, we succeeded.

Not because I had it all figured out, but because I owed it to the man who taught me that home is not about money, it’s about love, presence, and dignity. Today, this little win gives me untold joy and fulfilment,” she added.

She gave a tour of the old house her father built, offering a glimpse of its worn-out interior before the reconstruction began.

What matters most to Kenyan lady?

She spoke highly of what the house meant to her and the family before starting the rebuilding process.

The video captured the step-by-step transformation of the house from its humble beginning until completion.

“So yes, I built a house. But more than that, I rebuilt a piece of my father’s legacy. And I hope, wherever he is, he looks at me and says the words I’ll never hear this side of life, ‘I’m proud of you.’
If I can leave you with one lesson, it is this: it isn’t the material things that matter most, but the desire to honour and take care of our parents when we are able. Shower them with love. Give them their flowers while they can smell them. If you are blessed to provide for them, do it. Build them a decent home. Feed them. Care for their health. Visit them. Take photos. Share the stories. Let others be inspired to do the same,” she concluded.
