When Mary Atieno looks at her sewing machine today, she sees more than just fabric and thread; she sees a second chance at life. Just a year ago, she was drowning in despair.

As a young mother with no stable income, every day was a struggle to put food on the table and care for her child.

She told TUKO.co.ke that the weight of hopelessness pressed on her until a life-changing opportunity came her way.
Behind Mary’s transformation is Nathaniel Odongo, the founder of Humanity Touch Charity Organisation.

Through his support, Mary has been trained in tailoring and can now confidently design and sew clothes, a training she would never have afforded.
"The skills not only help me earn an income but also enable me to support my baby’s needs," she said, her face beaming with pride.
Nathaniel Odongo helped Mary start business
Apart from the training, Mary was also taken through mentorship sessions, which restored her spirit.
The philanthropist finally ensured she got a sewing machine to kickstart her journey into self-employment.
“I used to think my journey had ended, but today I see new opportunities. I am grateful for this second chance at life,” she adds with emotion.
For Mary, what was once a life of despair is now stitched together with promise, and when she sits behind her machine to create, she feels powerful.
