Verah Kaaya’s family receives news of her death
One of the deceased woman’s relatives, Verah Kitomali, stated that Marco reported the incident to his family and revealed where he had left his wife’s body so they could go and check.
“I received news of Verah’s death at 1 am from her husband’s brother. He left her body and went to his mother that same morning, where he confessed to killing her,” said a relative of the deceased.
The family sent someone who was nearby to confirm the unfortunate scene, which they did before calling the police.
Kitomali stated that officers found letters written by the suspect next to her body.
“Police officers found two letters written on both sides, but we are yet to know the contents. They said the notes will be released to the family once the proper procedures have been completed,” she explained.

“He said she was unfaithful and explained this in his four-page letter, saying he had witnessed her cheating, but she denied the accusations when he confronted her,” he said.
According to the distraught brother, Marco detailed in his letters that despite confronting his wife, she never stopped, and the most recent incident of infidelity led to her death.
“She allegedly lied to her husband that she was going to church, but he followed her and saw that she was with another man. This deeply affected him, and he was unable to control himself,” he stated.
He also mentioned the man his wife was allegedly seeing in his letters.
Marco is currently in hospital receiving treatment after allegedly taking poison. Police are monitoring him as they prepare to charge him with the crime.
Why men would consider violent reaction?
Cleopa Njiru a counselling psychologist told TUKO.co.ke that one reason why men find themselves harming their spouses is because they did not have role models and people to look up to as they grew up.
According to him, these men are not well informed when it comes to relationships, and that, coupled with the demands put upon them on their relationships plus heartbreaks, breed trauma and feelings of revenge.
“A good role model helps a young boy know how to behave and react when issues arise. If they saw violent ways of conflict resolution, that is what they will emulate when they have their families. There is need for creating good examples for young people to avoid such issues,” he said.
