A Kenyan woman has shared her heartbreaking story of how the man she supported for one and a half years left her to marry his side chick.

The woman, Beatrice (not her real name), said she met Martin (also not his real name) three years after separating from her husband.
At the time, Martin was among many in the country who had lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kenyan woman supports lover through hardship
Beatrice said Martin had nothing and was unemployed, a situation that forced her to shoulder all their household expenses during the time they were together.
“I housed him and provided everything for one and a half years. I was working, paid the bills, and life was good,” she shared.
The heartbroken mother explained that after they conceived their first child, they moved into a single room to ease their financial burden—something she did not mind.
At one point, they were unable to afford her medical expenses and had to rely on an online fundraiser.
“I even secured a job for him, only to discover he had taken a side chick when I was pregnant with our second child,” she said.
Beatrice revealed that Martin named the side chick as his next of kin on his employment records and eventually left her to marry the other woman.
“The worst part was how he left me stranded in a house with no food, no rent, no nappies, with a caesarean wound, a newborn, and a toddler. He provides nothing for his children. I reported him and even took him to FIDA, but he claimed he had no money,” she explained.
Despite the painful breakup, Beatrice said she chose to forgive Martin, forget he ever existed, and return to school to rebuild her life.
“I went through depression, recovered, got into a school, received a job opportunity, and I’m now in the final chapter of the process. I give God all the glory for giving me another chance to rebuild my life,” she stated.

Her story sparked strong emotional reactions from Kenyans online, with many sympathising and calling out men who exploit women’s support.

Machakos man dumps lover of 10 years for side chick
Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that a woman from Machakos county lamented after her lover of 10 years dumped her.
The woman, identified as Susan, said her partner began coming home late at night and would sometimes sleep out without any notice.
This behaviour eventually led to the collapse of their relationship, and he ultimately left her for another woman.
