The man, she says, was kind and loving at the beginning of their relationship, eventually marrying her and building a family together.

However, things took a dark turn a few years into the marriage when she became a mother.

“He started changing and began returning home late. What I didn’t know was that he had found another woman,” she said.

Teresiah's husband changed

The once-loving man became emotionally and physically abusive. Teresiah described instances where she would be physically assaulted over trivial matters.

“For example, if he asked for a remote and I took longer than a minute to hand it over, he would slap me,” she recalled.

Unable to bear the abuse, Teresiah walked out of the marriage. But the man later convinced her to return, promising that she was his only wife.

His assurances, however, were quickly proven false when another woman from the neighbourhood confronted Teresiah, claiming to be his partner.

Teresiah lost hubby to best friend

Still holding onto hope, she returned to her marital home. Her husband persuaded her to stop working and become a stay-at-home mother — a decision she now regrets.

“Little did I know that while I stayed at home, he was pursuing another woman from our neighbourhood. He even had plans to marry her,” she revealed.

What stings even more, Teresiah says, is that the woman her husband got involved with was someone she had once confided in — someone she considered a friend.

According to her, she confided in the friend about her marriage, not knowing she would use it to get closer to her husband and ruin everything.

Lessons from Teresiah's marriage

Now separated, Teresiah is focusing on raising her children and rebuilding her life while regretting the wasted years.

She chose to speak out in hopes that her story might help other women recognise red flags early and avoid the pain she endured.

Her final message:

"Trust is sacred. Be careful who you open up to, because not everyone has your best interests at heart."
