It is the story of Nixon Kiprotich, 32, a part-time lecturer and full-time freelancer, and his wife Naumi Chepkoech, 28.
How Nixon met Naumi
Nixon told TUKO.co.ke that their journey began not with sparks and instant connection, but with quiet persistence and a deep desire to understand one another beyond first impressions.
Their paths first crossed in 2016 during Nixon’s trip from Nairobi to his upcountry home.
As fate would have it, he was walking with a friend’s girlfriend along a village road when they stumbled upon Naumi, who was visiting her grandmother.
A passing encounter, one of those moments that most would forget—but not Nixon.
How Nixon approached Naumi
Four days later, determined and quietly hopeful, Nixon asked his friend’s girlfriend for Naumi’s number.
When he finally reached out, Naumi was hesitant, brushing him off with excuses that, in hindsight, now bring them both laughter.
But Nixon wasn’t pushy.
“I wished her the best because I didn’t want to bother her,” he recalls. That simple, respectful gesture melted the walls Naumi had put up.
Moment Naumi accepted Nixon's advances
Hours later, Nixon's heart raced when she texted back. And just like that, a door to a beautiful chapter opened.
The family man explained that their first conversation was more than just casual chatter—it was honest and raw.
“She told me she didn’t want to be in a relationship if she couldn’t make me happy,” Nixon shares. “That hit me deeply. It showed me she wasn’t pretending to impress me. She wanted a relationship built on truth and happiness, not just appearances.”
This foundation of sincerity would define their relationship for the years that followed.

When did Nixon, wife get married?
In November 2020, surrounded by their loved ones, Nixon and Naumi said their vows and began a new life as husband and wife.
Today, they are proud parents of a bubbly 3-year-old boy who lights up their home in Siroin with laughter and curiosity.
When asked what makes their union strong, Nixon doesn’t hesitate: “Trust. Understanding. And solving issues instantly—just the two of us.”
For them, marriage isn’t about perfection. It’s about mutual growth. They’ve agreed never to involve third parties or expose their disagreements on social media.
“We believe in solving things as a team,” Nixon says. “Naumi isn’t just my wife—she’s my partner and my best friend.”
Lessons about love from Nixon's marriage
Their story, while simple on the surface, carries timeless lessons. That love doesn’t always arrive in grand gestures, but sometimes in thoughtful texts and quiet perseverance.
That true companionship grows not from flashy promises, but from mutual respect, trust, and an unwavering commitment to solve life’s little storms together.
A story born on a dusty road in rural Bomet, and built every day in a home filled with love, understanding, and shared dreams.
As Nixon reflects on their journey, his voice carries a calm certainty:
“No real challenges so far, because we’ve learned to help each other when small challenges arise. That’s what family means to us.”
And perhaps, that’s what true love is.
