Lexy, who scored a C- in her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, said her dreams of joining college quickly faded due to financial hardship.

Determined to survive, she turned to hustling, trying her luck in acting and later landing a job at a local barbershop.

However, acting didn’t bring in the money she hoped for, and she had to survive, so she settled for the barbershop job.

As much as the money wasn't much, she still used part of it to take care of herself as she wanted to look and feel good.

Her life took a turn when she met a man who would become her greatest supporter and eventually, her husband.

The man, who is 18 years her senior, began helping her financially and emotionally. From gifting her perfumes and handbags to providing upkeep money, he became a pillar in her life.
