The young man Tony (not his real name) shared the painful story of how he sacrificed his own ambitions to support his wife’s dream of becoming a teacher, only for her to betray him.

How did Kenyan man support wife’s education?

He revealed that he dropped out of school to take care of their children so that his wife could focus on her studies.

“I saved you from the hands of evil-minded people. Now, just one year before completing your studies, you’ve decided to do this,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Tony said he had always been loyal to his wife and had never thought of betraying their love, unaware that she would do exactly that to him.

“I have always remained loyal to you since we got married, something not common to every man, but only to a few. I have a long way to go. I am the only son my parents depend on,” he continued.

He added that he had been hospitalised and was fighting for his life, though he did not disclose the cause of his admission.

“I’m lying in a hospital bed fighting for my life, all because of love,” he said.

Netizens react to Kenyan man’s love story

A section of social media users showed empathy and support, praising Obed’s loyalty and acknowledging the emotional pain of being betrayed, while others were more critical, advising men to avoid heavily investing in relationships.

Generali K'mie:

“Obed Kipchirchir, your sacrifice is not in vain. What you did came from a place of love, hope, and faith. Though it hurts now, never regret doing the right thing. You were a pillar when you needed to be a father, a partner, and a friend. That speaks volumes about your character.”

“Brother, take it easy. We are facing even more difficult situations in today’s society. Just visit a counselling centre for guidance.”

Séêkēr Ëk:

“Bro to bro never, and I repeat never educate a woman you haven’t married legally. If the families haven’t met, stay away. Also, men, stop remarrying women who were previously married. That’s just foolish. Men, let’s style up and find genuine wives.”

Bridah Eddlaine:

“This kind of love where people lose themselves completely where do you even find it? As for me, I love myself first. If you want to leave, just go. Once I’ve had enough, that’s it everything else is just noise.”

Anonymous Participant 918:

“Women get abandoned every day and no one throws a tantrum. One man gets dumped because he truly loved, and suddenly the world is ending. Move on, crying like an ambulance won’t help.”
