Hassan Muthuri narrated that his troubles started when he trusted a fake car dealer to whom he paid KSh nearly a million to deliver two cars meant for business.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he narrated that he raised the money through a loan from a microfinance institution, but the cars were not delivered, and thus, he was left with a huge loan to clear after realising he was conned.
"I had to sell my cars and business to try and pay back some portion of the loan," he said.
By this time, his wife was in Mombasa with their child and was thriving in her new job. Muthuri said he thought he could get solace in her arms since life had dealt him a tough card.
"I travelled to Mombasa and in the first week of my being with her and our child, everything was okay. However, from the second week, things went south. She came home and told me, 'Baba Baraka, you know I cannot be both the man and wife of this household, you need to go back to Meru and figure out your life'. Those words cut me deep," he narrated.
He recalled feeling betrayed and bewildered because he thought his wife could offer him refuge as he figured things out, but the weeks that followed, he claimed that a barrage of insults came in tow as his wife asked him to return to Meru.
Muthuri's marriage turns sour
"I remember there was a time she told me 'I wish I gave birth with a street urchin instead of you'. She would come late and would not allow me to question her. One day, she left me in the house all alone. She claimed that I could hurt them because I have bipolar, which was not true," he recalled.
"I went to her office the following day to try and explain myself to her. However, she left me there like I was a nobody. I went home, crying by myself," he added.
The distraught man said he did not think he would ever hit rock bottom and be left by his wife because he was loyal to her in every way.
"Not having money made her feel as if I was not in her class. She told me she would ensure that my child would forget about me. All this because I did not have money. We should just be kind," he added.
He said he desires to reconnect with his child amid the ongoing feud with his wife.

Firstly, incase of any imbalance in money, it is importance of every couple to evaluate their expenses and create a budget that does not strain the one making more money.
Secondly, determines who pays for what. The spouse with the higher financial power can pay for bigger bills while the other settles utilies or groceries.
It is important to openly discuss these issues so that they do not drive a wedge between the couple.
