Ephy Adhiambo, in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, narrated how she met the father of her firstborn daughter while studying at Maasai Mara University in Narok.
She said the man was initially good to her but was struggling with drug abuse, which eventually led to their separation.
“It reached a point where I could not handle it anymore, so I called it quits in 2018 and decided to immerse myself in hustling. I sold chapatis on campus,” she said.

How did Ephy Adhiambo meet hubby?
A year later, while visiting her sister in Kisumu, Ephy met her future husband, Mark (not his real name).
They began dating a few months after meeting, and she felt they had a lot in common, especially in how they were raised.
“The relationship started off well, but I noticed several red flags which I ignored because I loved him and believed he would change,” she stated.
The first major disappointment came when Mark visited her in Narok and stole KSh 10,000 from her purse.
“I had some savings and wanted to surprise him with KSh 1,000 as a birthday gift. I didn’t realise he had seen the rest of the money. The next day, he stole from me and left,” she said.
Ephy also accused Mark of stealing her stash of KSh 20 coins from her house. When she confronted him, he denied the accusations, and she eventually dropped the matter.

She went on to describe how the relationship deteriorated, with Mark constantly borrowing money from her and never repaying it, and avoiding the idea of them moving in together.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ephy lost her restaurant job and decided to move in with Mark in Kisii, hoping to start afresh.
Her daughter was with her mother in the village, and she hoped to find new work in Kisii.
Although Mark was hesitant about living together, he agreed after she helped him set up a chemist business.
Ephy withdrew KSh 40,000 from her savings to support his idea, and life initially seemed to improve once she moved in.

Did Ephy's hubby bring side chick to their home?
However, their marriage quickly took a dark turn. Mark’s infidelity worsened, and he began openly bringing other women into their home.
“It came to a point where if we had an argument, he would threaten me. He’d say he was a medic and knew exactly how to hit me so no one would ever find out. During curfew, he said he could dump my body somewhere and get away with it,” she recounted tearfully.

Ephy worked night shifts at a hotel and often returned home to find signs that other women had been in her house, dirty dishes and soiled beddings, but she remained silent and cleaned up.
“He brought women to our home, slept with them in our bed, and they would leave before I got back from work. When I complained, he told me I liked to argue,” she said.
A boda boda rider who worked nearby confirmed her suspicions, telling her he had often seen different women leaving her house in the mornings.
“He told me out of concern, and I admitted I already knew. I would find the evidence every morning I cleaned the bedsheets and the house before heading back to work again in the evening,” she said.
