In a scathing interview on Friday, April 4, the former Cabinet secretary and ex-speaker of the National Assembly launched a blistering attack on Ruto, stating that he's unfit for the presidency.
Muturi claimed that Ruto’s dual personality makes him a “dangerous character,” questioning the integrity of the head of state.
"I think William Ruto is a person with two personalities. The William Ruto that presents himself to the public is a completely different character from the one that sits behind in the office and crafts stuff. I think that kind of person is quite a dangerous character. I think William Ruto is actually unfit for the position of President of the Republic of Kenya," Muturi said.
He did not hold back in expressing his belief that Ruto was not fit to hold the highest office in the land.
"I have come sadly to that conclusion. I have nothing, no bitterness. For me, I just feel my own assessment," he added.
Muturi accuses Ruto of corruption
Muturi further criticised Ruto’s stance on corruption, calling out the apparent contradiction between the president's public anti-corruption rhetoric and his alleged involvement in corrupt activities.
"When I watch William Ruto sometimes talking to members of the Cabinet and say, 'I do not want to see corruption in my government,' then I start wondering, who is this talking?" Muturi posed.

When directly asked whether Ruto was corrupt, Muturi responded without hesitation, saying, “Absolutely. Very. Irredeemably corrupt.”
Muturi went on to reference the controversial Adani deal, a subject that has caused a stir in political circles.
He claimed that Ruto was directly involved in the deal, alleging that the president’s advisor, Adan Mohamed, had provided him with information linking Ruto to the deal, particularly concerning the airport project.
"I don't want to give you the obvious ones about the Adanis, because I have some background about it. He's the one who's clearly behind it. I know this because when his advisor, Adan Mohamed, invited me to attend the COP28 in Dubai in 2023, he gave me a lot of information, which ended up with the Adani deal, about the airport specifically," Muturi asserted.
Why didn't Muturi resign?
The former National Assembly speaker also explained why he did not resign despite witnessing the alleged wanton corruption and suffering public humiliation when his son was abducted.
Muturi claimed he had a duty to serve Kenyans and was prepared to deal with all the challenges that would come his way without quitting.
"I made a conscious decision to continue serving in government even after my son was abducted because public service is not about personal comfort, it's about commitment to the country. Yes, it was painful. But I couldn't allow personal challenges to derail the responsibility I have to the people of Kenya. My family understood that, and we stood strong together," said the former CS.
Why was Muturi sacked
In response to Ruto's recent allegations that he neglected his duties, Muturi strongly rejected the claims.
He clarified that his dismissal was not due to negligence but rather his outspoken stance against extrajudicial killings and abductions.
Muturi revealed that he had sent private letters to Ruto, urging the government to address the rising issue of kidnappings in Cabinet meetings.
He emphasized that his commitment to justice and human rights had led to his removal, highlighting his efforts to bring attention to these grave concerns within the government.
