Ahmednasir Abdullahi Blasts Uhuru over His Recent Calls to Youth

  • At every opportunity he gets to address an audience, former president Uhuru Kenyatta has made it his routine to urge the youths to fight for good governance
  • Whilst his clarion call to the young populace might resonate with the political status quo, some observers argue he is not the best placed to give that counsel
  • Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi believes that Uhuru bungled the country when he was president, and hence, he should be the last person to counsel anyone on governance

According to the lawyer, Uhuru has no moral standing to counsel the youth.

Ahmednasir asserted that corruption, both in the national executive and the judiciary, extrajudicial killings, and the flouting of vital constitutional requirements were all rampant during Uhuru's tenure as president.

"I agree with CS Kipchumba Murkomen. H.E Uhuru has no locus standi to talk about anything (i.e constitutionalism, rule of law, democracy, fight against corruption, Jurispesa, wanjiku, mama mboga, ngamia, etc.) except extrajudicial killings, grand corruption and 4 dollar billionaires," he said.

Ahmednasir's sentiments came after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen took on Uhuru over his calls to the youth in Kenya and beyond.

Why Murkomen blasted Uhuru Kenyatta

Often, he has urged them to continue with the fight against bad governance, referencing the recent times revolution by the youth against the government on the African continent.

Murkomen dismissed Uhuru's appeal to the youth, saying the former president is not the best placed to rally the youth to pursue change.

Kipchumba Murkomen blasts Uhuru for asking Gen Zs to fight for change: "You're suddenly clever"

According to Murkomen, Uhuru's regime was not perfect to warrant his constant lectures regarding governance and the need for youth to rise up against tyranny, saying '

"He (Uhuru) was the president the other day; the ink he used to sign decisions with has not even dried. Suddenly has become very clever and an angel. He is now the one to lecture us and ask the youth to demonstrate, yet he was the president just recently. This exploitation of our young people is not right. I want to ask leaders across the political divide: this is not an issue of political gain, but an issue we must all act responsibly."

How Uhuru reacted to Gen Z uprising

Uhuru had previously steered clear of the Kenya youth-led uprising against the current administration.

However, he later seemed to be pledging his support, encouraging young people to remain courageous and dedicated to their mission of transforming Kenya's political landscape.

He emphasised that the younger generation holds the key to unlocking the nation's potential, which has been stifled by poor leadership.
