Why former FORD Kenya officials are unhappy with Wetang'ula
Led by immediate former FORD Kenya Trans Nzoia branch secretary Joseph Pepela, the former officials claim the National Assembly speaker abandoned his loyal foot soldiers after the 2022 General Election.
Pepela, who spoke at Kikwameti village during the burial of former Sikhendu ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Erick Musumba, lamented that most of those who stood by Wetang’ula’s side in the failed attempted coup orchestrated by former Kanduyi Member of Parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu were languishing in the cold.

He told Wetang'ula to shut down FORD Kenya, arguing that it had outlived its usefulness in the country.
The university lecturer further claimed the Mulembe nation was yet to get their 30 per cent share that the former Bungoma senator negotiated in the deal signed during the formation of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
“Chris Wamalwa was FORD Kenya's secretary general, but when you were allowed to appoint your team, you neglected him and other loyal soldiers. Give us our shares or else you close your cash cow," Pepela said.
Similar sentiments were shared by former Motosiet MCA Bernard Aliang'ana, who said FORD Kenya should not be trusted with any leadership position in Trans Nzoia county.

Aliang'ana, who unsuccessfully defended his seat through FORD Kenya, challenged Wetang’ula to exit the political stage and pave the way for other young and vibrant leaders.

"We cannot allow somebody who betrayed Chris Wamalwa to continue benefiting alone. Had Chris Wamalwa been given a Cabinet Secretary position, perhaps our brother Musumba would have been alive because he would have been fixed somewhere by Chris," the former MCA said.
But responding to the two former officials, Bungoma Senator David Wakoli said they should not be taken seriously and accused them of playing populist politics.
Is FORD Kenya popular in Trans Nzoia?
Wakoli further revealed that FORD Kenya was preparing to capture the majority of elective positions in Trans Nzoia.
The Senator further said that the party has put in place strategies that will send home Governor George Natembeya in the 2027 general election.
"FORD Kenya fought for multi-party democracy and the freedom of speech that our brothers are enjoying. There is no problem when the two express themselves because it is their constitutional right," added Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi.

FORD Kenya rejects merger calls
Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Wetang'ula-led party had rejected calls to dissolve and merge with other Kenya Kwanza affiliates.
The decision was reached following the FORD Kenya's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
It comes barely a month after the Amani National Congress (ANC) agreed to dissolve and merge with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
