Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has asked Kenyans not to speculate why he did not attend Tuesday's April 29 opposition leaders' meeting held in Nairobi.

Why Natembeya missed Gachagua's meeting

Responding to journalists' questions on why he was not part of the meeting, Natembeya said he was absent because he had other pre-planned commitments in Trans Nzoia.

"I firmly back the resolutions made by the opposition, as long as they genuinely reflect the will and welfare of the Kenyan people. Our responsibility as leaders goes beyond political affiliations. It is about standing up for what moves this country forward. If an idea benefits the people, it deserves our full support, no matter where it comes from." Natembeya stated.

However, the former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, who has declared himself the official opposition leader, said he fully endorses the meeting.

"Leaders have a right to meet and exchange ideas. People should not speculate. I would have been part of that meeting only that I was held up by other engagements here in my office," the Trans Nzoia governor said.

According to Natembeya, the Gachagua team met to deliberate on how to address the challenges affecting the people of Kenya and urged Kenyans not to worry about such consultative meetings.

His political star rose to the national league when he vigorously advocated for the welfare and interests of the people of the Western region through his famous Tawe Movement.

Why Miguna Miguna dismissed opposition

In other news, lawyer Miguna Miguna has sharply criticised the current opposition, asserting that it is unable to liberate Kenya from the alleged mismanagement under Ruto's government.

He contended that this faction is not equipped to challenge Ruto’s grip on power.

Miguna also questioned their integrity, highlighting that many members of the group have already demonstrated shortcomings.

He went on to suggest that the team led by Gachagua mirrors Ruto in many ways, claiming that they are more focused on advancing their personal interests than on genuinely acting as selfless liberators with noble intentions
