The MP declared that, in light of the working pact between the ODM and UDA parties, the manner the state will carry out the probe into the Kasipul MP's murder will determine how the two outfits will relate going forward.
"I want to tell President William Ruto that we will not allow the long arms of the government to grow shorter at the death of our son and continue with any relationship with you going forward. We must know more, so because of the Mou you signed with Raila before Friday," he said.
The MP held that his colleague's fatal attack was executed by an experienced gunman, likely with current or previous links with the government.
He asserted that the target accuracy and precision with which the shooting was done could not be achieved by an ordinary civilian.
Kaluma said that an amateur assassin would not have had the confidence to trail the deceased's car throughout traffic congestion manned by police officers and then calmly dismount from his motorbike to open fire.
How Governor Gladys Wanga reacted to Ong'ondo Were's murder
His sentiments were underscored by Governor Gladys Wanga, who implied that the ODM party would review its partnership with the government because of Were's murder.

The governor regretted that the deceased lawmaker had repeatedly reported to the police about his safety, but no initiative was taken to protect him.
According to Wanga, the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, was also aware of the threats to the MP's life but was noncommittal on taking action.
The governor tasked the government with getting to the bottom of Were's murder and bringing the perpetrators to book.
She said the ODM-UDA partnership would not be a veil for injustices meted out to leaders from Nyanza.

How Ong'ondo Were met his death
The MP tragically lost his life on the evening of Wednesday, April 30, shortly after leaving the National Assembly, where he had attended the afternoon session.
At 7:15pm, his driver and bodyguard picked him up from Parliament Buildings.
Unbeknownst to them, assailants had been trailing them from the city, pausing whenever their vehicle stopped due to traffic.
The pursuit continued until they reached the City Mortuary Roundabout, where one of the attackers dismounted from a motorcycle and advanced toward the car.
Without hesitation, the assailant fired multiple shots aimed at the MP’s seat before fleeing immediately.
