Will Nyanza benefit from Ruto-Raila partnership?

Speaking on Sunday, May 4, during an interdenominational prayer service at Kadika Primary School in Suna East, the legislator said the agreement signed between Ruto and Raila is aimed at ensuring locals in Luo Nyanza get a fair share of the national cake.

“We have an opportunity to work with the president to transform our region, and that's what we are doing. Give us time and a chance," Atandi said.

Orengo has been a vocal critic of the deal that was signed between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

He recently hinted at his willingness to mobilise Kenyans to go back to the streets over the government’s failure to address pressing issues affecting the people.

Orengo also noted that he is ready and willing to go to jail. However, Atandi cautioned the county boss that he might find it rough coping with jail life.

"You are too old to go to jail, and if you go, you won't come out as you might end up dying there,” the legislator said.

He further pointed out that the region has for years been sidelined when it comes to development matters.

Mbadi said it is time leaders in the region focus on development and not fighting for the people’s rights.

“We know Luos are known for fighting for the rights of the people, and for a long time we've done it, but we must also think of developing our region", the CS said.

Orengo is among the few Raila allies who have openly expressed doubts about the working agreement the ODM party signed with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
