Nyeri - Former Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i made an unexpected appearance at ex-deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s Wamunyoro home, defying earlier reports that he would skip a high-stakes political meeting at the venue.

Matiang'i affirms readiness to serve Kenyans
In his address, the former CS emphasised the urgent need to restore integrity in governance, citing his past service in the education docket.

"There is no day I have never been serious. I am ready to fight for this country. We need to clean our country so that people can trust the government again. What we are going through is temporary; we must not turn against each other but focus on fixing the nation," Matiang’i said.
Gachagua echoed the sentiment, declaring that the struggle is not just for the present, but for the future of Kenya.
"Our resolve for a better Kenya remains unmatched. We must make sacrifices beyond personal ambition for the sake of our children," he stated.
He further noted the symbolic unity among leaders from various regions, saying, "The plan to divide Mt. Kenya has collapsed. Kalonzo is here with Wiper, Eugene Wamalwa represents the Mulembe nation, Senator Seki Lenku from the Maa community, and Matiang’i from the Omugusii. The mountain stands united."

"The contest is now clearly defined," he remarked, hinting at the formation of major opposing blocs heading into the next General Election.

In other news, Matiang’i received a heroic welcome during his tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, where large crowds turned out to receive him.
The climax of the visit was at Gusii Stadium, which was filled to capacity as Matiang’i addressed residents and outlined his national agenda.
Kisii governor Simba Arati called on Matiang’i to take his message across the country, urging him to engage with leaders from all regions to secure national relevance.
