The Orange Democratic Movement secretary general emphasised that voting is a personal choice and expressed no ill will toward those who choose to support Ruto’s re-election.
"Sifuna Edwin Watenya, I can give my ID number. I will not be voting for William Ruto in 2027. He should also respect my decision. Thank you," Sifuna told Citizen TV.

Why will Sifuna not vote for Ruto?
Sifuna, referring to himself as the one with the "marking scheme," gave the Kenya Kwanza administration a grade E, claiming they have done little to address Kenya's challenges.
He also alleged that the president became upset when he criticised the delayed disbursement of county funds. Sifuna noted that the counties have not received money since February.
"When I stood up during the burial of George Oduor and I told him that he agreed to increase budgetary allocations to counties to KSh 450 billion instead of KSh 405 billion, the president got annoyed and threatened to call the founders of ODM to discipline the SG," Sifuna claimed.
He added that members of the Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who accuse him of undermining the broad-based government are being unfair.
Sifuna also noted that his complaints serve as reminders of the commitments made during the UDA-ODM partnership agreement.

He emphasised that his primary focus remains on serving the people of Nairobi, clarifying that he is not pursuing any other position.
Sifuna stated he would refuse any role within the current administration.
Additionally, he confirmed his intention to run for re-election as Nairobi's senator in 2027, addressing concerns about his future political aspirations.
The statement came a day after he dismissed the notion that Raila's entire team transitioned to the government due to the memorandum of understanding signed two months earlier.
The senator clarified that ODM members who joined the National Executive did so in a personal capacity, not as party representatives.
He also criticised the Cabinet secretaries, stating they had made little impact since their swearing-in, despite publicly boasting about being part of the government.
Sifuna emphasised that he only recognises Ruto as the leader of the government and pledged to hold the administration accountable when necessary.
