"He was brought here, where he was admitted, and I've just seen him, and I've talked to the doctors, and they have confirmed that the honourable George Koibori was tortured by professionals. He has serious soft tissue injuries. This is torture normally done by professionals," Gachagua said.

The former DP further claimed that Koimburi was injected with a lethal chemical weapon, which has interfered with his speech.

According to Gachagua, the Juja lawmaker made the revelation through writing, as he is unable to speak.

"He has lost his voice and the doctors are working around the clock to restore his voice, his vocal cords. The honourable Koibori has been able to communicate through writing because he's not able to speak; some chemical was administered through inhalation, and the doctors have told us that preliminary investigations confirm that that chemical has interfered with his vocal cords. The doctors have assured us they are doing everything within their power to make sure that he's out of danger," he added.

Are Kenyan MPs safe?

A section of Kenyan MPs has expressed fear for their lives in recent weeks, particularly after the brutal murder of Kasipul MP Ongondo Were.

Were was gunned down at City Mortuary Roundabout along Ngong Road, barely an hour after leaving parliament.

His murder came after several months of raising concerns about his security.

Last week, Soy MP David Kiplagat filed a report at Ziwa Police Station alleging death threats from unknown people.

The MP, elected on the UDA ticket, said some leaflets with threatening messages targeting him had been distributed across the constituency.

The message on the leaflets alleged the MP was becoming too vocal and critical of some people, thus crossing the red line.

Two days after Kiplagat's concerns, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara also claimed her life was in danger.
