Did Kithure Kindiki once work for Wetang'ula?
Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, May 28, Wetang’ula suggested that life can sometimes put one's juniors in a superior position.

He then invited the country's second in command to come to the podium and address Kenyans before welcoming the head of state to speak.
“And now to invite His Excellency, the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya, the Honourable Professor Abraham Kithure Kindiki, to whom I had the distinction of having been his boss in the legal profession at one time. And as the paradox of life takes us now, he is my boss in the political arena," Wetang'ula said.
Kindiki obliged and took to the podium, acknowledging that he had worked at Wetang’ula’s law firm many years earlier.
"Other than that, what Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has said is correct, I once worked at his law firm," Kindiki said.
What is Kithure Kindiki's biography?
Kindiki was born on July 16, 1972, in Irunduni village, located in Tharaka Nithi county.
He attended Irunduni Primary School before moving on to Lenana School for his secondary education.
He earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University, followed by a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law.
Furthering his education abroad, Kindiki obtained a master’s degree in International Human Rights Law and Democracy, as well as a doctorate in International Law, both from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
At 52 years old, Kindiki amassed more than 26 years of professional experience.
His academic career includes lecturing at Moi University’s School of Law, progressing to senior lecturer and head of the Department of Public Law at the University of Nairobi.

He also served as associate dean at the University of Nairobi. In addition to his academic roles, he is qualified to practice law at both the High Court of Kenya and the International Criminal Court.
Kindiki’s public service career began in 2008 with his appointment as Secretary for National Cohesion under former president Mwai Kibaki.
He served as senator for Tharaka-Nithi County from 2013 to 2022. During this time, he held the position of Senate majority leader from 2013 to 2017 and was deputy speaker from 2017 to 2020.

The Ministry of Interior recognises Kindiki as a distinguished expert in international human rights law. He has consulted for various local and international bodies, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Development Programme.
His professional affiliations include the Academic Council on the United Nations System, the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration, the Law Society of Kenya, and the Kenya chapter of the International Commission of Jurists.
