During a high-profile gathering hosted by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at his rural home in Tseikuru, Gachagua delivered a fiery address, signalling a calculated effort by opposition leaders to unseat Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

"The most important thing for Kenya to move forward is that Ruto must go. That is the most important thing. He keeps shouting that we have no agenda; we do have an agenda! The agenda is to remove him first," Gachagua told the cheering crowd.

It was a direct clapback to Ruto’s earlier jabs at opposition figures, accusing them of being directionless and lacking concrete plans for the country.

But in Tseikuru, Gachagua stood his ground, insisting that sending Ruto home is not just a political strategy but a critical mission for them.

"So William Ruto, don’t dictate our agenda, sort out yours. We have an agenda, and the first is for Kenya to improve, for work to continue, and for the nation to stand tall, you must be a one-term president," the former DP declared.

How will Kenya's opposition line up against Ruto?

The remarks came amid growing speculation about the formation of a grand opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.

While the event was dubbed a consultative meeting, the presence of key political heavyweights from across the country transformed it into a show of strength and early mobilisation.

Kalonzo, whose political base in Ukambani has remained loyal over the years, played host to a strong lineup.

Gachagua's fiery rhetoric came just moments after he hinted at plans to present a single presidential candidate in 2027.

The former DP expressed his confidence in the opposition's chances against Ruto, pointing out that they had agreed to work together for the common purpose.

"The journey to form the 2027 government has begun. We are here to say that your leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, we have sat with him. We have sat with Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, and many other leaders. And we have agreed that, given where Kenya is today, we must listen to one another, love each other, and sit down to produce one flagbearer," Gachagua revealed.
