Is William Ruto a 'wantam' president?

Speaking in Homa Bay county during the Madaraka Day celebrations on Sunday, June 1, Cheruiyot dismissed the now viral 'Wantam'.

The outspoken senator stated that many Kenyans, especially in the rural areas, appreciate the good work that the Kenya Kwanza government has done.

According to the Kericho senator, the 'Wantam' proponents are noisemakers and idlers who have nothing important to do in life.

"Those are idlers who have not travelled around the country to appreciate the work that has been done. People in the village appreciate the work that has been done. Those who are online are just noisemakers and idlers who don’t know what they are doing with life," Cheruiyot said.

On his part, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed said Kenyans are not interested in the 'Wantam' debate.

According to Junet, Kenyans are tired of ethnic politics and are only longing for unity and shared national identity.

"Kenyans are tired of this 'notam, wantam', they just want to be united. Rotating national celebrations across the country is one of the best decisions we've made—it gives every region a sense of inclusion. Kenyans are tired of division and ethnic politics; they long for unity and a shared national identity," Junet said.

Can Rigathi Gachagua defeat William Ruto in 2027?

Meanwhile, Mogotio MP Ruben Kiborek issued a stern warning to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, predicting a fierce political battle in 2027 that could result in significant losses for Gachagua.

Kiborek said the contest between Ruto and Gachagua will be challenging for the latter and urged him to prepare accordingly.

He criticised Gachagua and his supporters for promoting empty rhetoric against Ruto, who, according to Kiborek, is focused on delivering results for Kenyans.

Kiborek further accused Gachagua of stirring divisions among communities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Has Gachagua ever lost an election?

In related news, the former deputy president confidently declared himself a master of political strategy, vowing to unseat Ruto in the 2027 elections.

Gachagua highlighted that he has never lost an election since entering active politics, expressing strong confidence in his ability to help remove Ruto from power.
