Gachagua's Ex-Aide Ngunjiri Wambugu Ridicules Him over Silence During Protests: "Wannabe Mau Mau"
- Wambugu Ngunjiri seems properly preoccupied with calling out the apparent bluff of his former boss, Rigathi Gachagua
- Gachagua has styled himself as the saviour of the Kenyan population against the supposed maladministration in President William Ruto's regime
- But Wambugu holds a different opinion, arguing that the former deputy president is pursuing personal interests while riding on the desperation of Kenyans dissatisfied with Ruto's regime

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has sustained his political offensive on former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, whom he accuses of hypocrisy and other tendencies of political deceit.

Ever since his impeachment last October, Gachagua embarked on decampaigning President William Ruto, and styling himself as the saviour of Kenyans who are decrying the apparent maladministration of the current regime.
Despite his insistence on meaning well for the country, Wambugu has been on his case, calling out his bluff.
Why Wambugu Ngunjiri is trolling Gachagua
According to the former Nyeri Town MP, Gachagua, whom he (Ngunjiri) shortly served as a communications strategist, is pursuing personal ends while riding on the desperation of the public.

Ngunjiri holds that the former deputy president seeks to capitalise on the vibrancy of the Kenyan Gen Zs to politically get back at Ruto after his impeachment and gain personally at the expense of the masses.
He wondered why, despite being vocal and seeming to associate himself with the young populace, Gachagua was a no-show during the memorial protests on June 25.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP Kenya's Eugene Wamalwa were the only ones from Gachagua's faction seen in the protests with flowers to honour the young Kenyans killed during anti-finance bill protests last year.
"Our wannabe son of Mau Mau is nowhere to be seen today. He did not join his peers to lay commemorative flowers or even write his usual long essays. But from tomorrow, he will be here talking of ‘My Children!" posted Ngunjiri on Facebook.
As hinted previously, Gachagua contracted Ngunjiri to shape his public image in the Office of the Deputy President, a task the former lawmaker undertook for a few months until Gachagua's ouster.
He remained in the deposed DP's fold for a little while before deciding to detach himself.

Ngunjiri would later embark on a constant onslaught against Gachagua, demonstrating how the latter is unfit to hold public office.
He also returned to the Jubilee Party under former president Uhuru Kenyatta; he is likely to seek re-election in Nyeri Town on the party's ticket.
Does Gachagua want to become president?
In his analysis, Ngunjiri opines that Gachagua is not keen on unseating President William Ruto and succeed him, but rather aims at becoming a powerful oligarch with massive influence outside of power.
He says the former deputy president targets to be a disruptor of Raila Odinga's kind; to wield insurmountable influence with which he can negotiate with the regimes in power.

Gachagua has formed the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), with which he intends to manoeuvre politically the ODM leader way.
Ngunjiri said;
"Gachagua wants power without accountability. He has an obsession with Raila. Gachagua wants to become Raila. I am more convinced that Gachagua is more interested in becoming Raila than removing Ruto from office. Raila has been out of office for 20 years, but he has been in every government."
Has Gachagua isolated Mt Kenya residents from other Kenyans?
Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni recently lashed out at the former president for allegedly advancing tribal politics, which he argued has left Mt Kenya isolated from the rest of the country.
Kioni, who is supporting the presidential bid of former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, said the populous and vote-rich region was on the verge of losing its political capital and relevance due to reckless and divisive utterances of some leaders.

Although the Jubilee Party has been partially working with Gachagua's DCP party under the United Opposition umbrella that includes other outfits like Wiper, DAP-K and People Liberation Party (PLP), Kioni has not been comfortable with the former deputy president.
In April, Gachagua advised Matiang'i to ditch the Jubilee Party and form his own party with which the Gusii people would identify.
The remarks did not go down well with Kioni, who has endorsed Matiang'i and is preparing to lead his campaigns in Mt Kenya.
Masolo Mabonga, HOD Current Affairs and Politics, updated this article with details on whether Gachagua has isolated Mt Kenya from the rest of the country.
