After a heated debate, 16 out of 18 Members of the County Assembly voted in support of the motion to remove Guyo from office.
The motion was tabled by Sericho MCA Abubakar Godana and was debated in a tense and heavily guarded county assembly session.
In the motion, Godana said the governor had breached Chapter Six of the Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act, and the Public Officers' Ethics Act.
“These Acts provide for respect for the rule of law, good governance, accountability and transparency as key principles of leadership,” Godana said as reported by KBC.
In the ouster motion, the embattled governor is accused of gross misconduct, misappropriation of county funds, and violation of constitutional and legal provisions.
Guyo was also accused of hiring 36 advisors, far above the limit of four set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Why Salad Boru stopped public participation for Guyo's impeachment?
In a related development, a judge reinstated Isiolo County Assembly Clerk Salab Boru Guracha into office, days after he was sacked in the ongoing efforts to impeach Guyo.
In a ruling on Thursday, June 19, Nyeri Employment and Labour Relations judge Onesmus Makau issued the orders after Guracha objected to the action taken by the County Assembly Service Board.

Guracha had filed an application contesting his removal from office, terming it unconstitutional.
He said, as confirmed in an affidavit of Abdi Sora Balla, a member of the County Assembly Service Board of Isiolo County, there was no meeting or resolution by the board to suspend the clerk from office.
The latest development comes days after Guracha cancelled the planned public participation sessions to impeach Governor Guyo.
Guracha announced the cancellation of the public participation following a court order that suspended the planned impeachment.

Mwenda Thuranira backs Guyo's impeachment plot
Real estate businessman Mwenda Thuranira is among Isiolo politicians who threw their weight behind the plans to impeach Guyo.
In a strongly worded statement posted on his official Facebook page, Thuranira, a vocal critic of the county leadership, praised the MCAs for uniting behind the impeachment motion.
He claimed the governor’s leadership style is rooted in arrogance and impunity, accusing him of ignoring the voices of ordinary citizens and treating the county as if it were his personal property.
Thuranira said conditions in Isiolo had worsened to the point of despair, with many residents feeling abandoned and hopeless.
