In a bold rhetoric, the country's former second in command stated that the Kenya Kwanza government has been trying to run away from the truth by pinning the blame on him.
Was Gachagua behind Gen Z protests?
Speaking to NTV, Gachagua termed the claims as misinformed, asserting that he had nothing to do with the protests.

He argued that Gen Z do not need anyone to fund them as they are leaderless, tribeless and with no structure or organisation.
"It is playing around with the people of Kenya to imagine that Rigathi Gachagua or anybody else can coordinate activities in 26 counties at the same time," he said.
Did Gachagua blame government for violence during protests?
Additionally, the former member of Parliament seemingly pinned the blame on the Kenya Kwanza government.
He stated that if indeed the Gen Z protests were funded, then the National Intelligence Service should have been informed earlier and countered them on time.
"If they did not know, then they slept on the job; they are not supposed to be in the office. If they knew and did nothing about it, then again, they are guilty of failing to stop anarchy and violence. From where I seat, the protests were very peaceful," he stated.

He further defended Gen Z, stating that they had nothing to do with the violence that was exhibited during protests.
Gachagua stated that the chaos was brought about by the goons who infiltrated the peaceful protests. The police were also dragged into the matter, with Gachagua accusing them of escorting the goons in their looting exercise.
"I've seen videos. Thugs caused mayhem as police watched. Some thugs arrived in police vehicles. As we speak today, many protesters were arrested, and others were killed. Not a single goon was shot or arrested," Gachagua added.
Why didn't Gachagua join Gen Z protests?
The former DP also took the opportunity to address concerns about his absence during the Gen Z demos despite other members of the opposition making an appearance.

He defended his stance of staying away by saying that Gn Z had initially warned politicians against joining the demos and chose to respect that.
Gachagua added that his physical presence would have further fuelled the allegations that he was the one who orchestrated the demos.
