Former Public Service cabinet secretary Justin Muturi was one of the politicians who graced the late blogger Albert Ojwang's requiem mass.

The mass was held at the Ridgeways Baptist Church along Kiambu Road on Wednesday, July 2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Muturi sympathised with the family of the blogger while calling out the Kenya Kwanza government.

What Justin Muturi said about Albert Ojwang

He cited the incident where his son Leslie Muturi was abducted, causing him to worry to the extent of seeking President William Ruto's intervention.

"I posed the question on January 12 this year, that yes I was lucky when my son was abducted, I was able to get all those people and finally was able to get to the president whom I told please can you call Noordin Haji the Director General of NIS. He's the one holding my son. The president called him and Noordin said he will be home in the next one hour," Muturi said.

The former Cabinet secretary stated that he was lucky; he was able to reach the president for assistance.

However, he expressed his sympathies to the family of the late Ojwang, who couldn't be able to reach the president when their son was taken into custody.

"How about Albert's father and several others who cannot have the opportunity of getting to the highest office in the land. This is the result," he said as he pointed at Ojwang's casket.

Muturi stated that he attended the requiem mass to mourn with Ojwang's family because he knows that losing a loved one is painful.

Muturi calls out Kenya Kwanza govt over Ojwang's death

The CS quoted a line in the National Anthem that states, "justice be our shield and defender," stating that the government should apply the words.

"Do those words have meaning to us? If they do, we would not be seeing this kind of situations. When the young people of this county well educated like Albert express themselves, they breathing life to our constitution," Muturi said.

What Albert Ojwang's father told his killers

During the same event, Meshack Opiyo, Ojwang's father, quoted a haunting scripture stating that his son's death would have serious consequences on those who executed his murder.

He cited the book of Proverbs, chapter 21 and spoke about the story of Cain and Abel. He asserted that the blood of the innocent, once shed, never stops crying for justice.

Meshack's message was directed to his son's killers. Ojwang's death while in custody at the Central Police Station has sparked outrage.
