Kibet, President William Ruto's aide, has been frequenting Malava with empowerment initiatives and, while at it, trying to sway the locals in light of a pending by-election.
Why Khalwale doesn't want Farouk Kibet in Malava
The constituency has been without a representative in the National Assembly for five months now since the death of their lawmaker, Malulu Injendi, in February this year.

In his visits to the constituency, Farouk has seemed to lean toward one of the deceased lawmaker's children.
Speaking in Malava on Saturday, July 12, Khalwale counselled the constituents to be independent and elect their next leader based on their blueprint.
Khalwale claimed the president's aide was having dishonest motives with his frequent journeys to Malava.
He asserted that the president is using Kibet to control Malava for expediency.
"Farouk Kibet has been here all the time. He is not coming here because he loves us. He is coming here because they fear that we are unsatisfied with the president, even after voting for him. They are in a panic and hence want to take over the Malava constituency," Khalwale claimed.
He warned Farouk against meddling in the affairs of the constituency.
Khalwale said that even with being the senator for Kakamega, he has no authority to dictate who the people of Malava will elect as their MP.

According to the senator, his involvement in the politics of Malava is limited to mentoring whoever is elected.
"Farouk should listen well; God took our brother Malulu Injendi. We were not happy; we lost our MP. So we are still thinking about who to be the MP. All these candidates traversing the constituency seeking the MP seat are all out children. It doesn't matter who wins, because they are all Malava natives. We don't need an outsider running up and down like a night runner to remind us who we should vote for. I respect the people of Malava 100%, and my respect will include me not interfering with the election. The people will decide on their own who becomes the MP. I will walk with whoever is elected and show them where Malulu left off," the senator said.

Besides Malava, other constituencies awaiting by-elections are Banisa, Ugunja, Mbeere North and Kasipul.
The MPs for Banisa and Kasipul died, while Ugunja and Mbeere North saw their legislators joining the government as Cabinet Secretaries.
Baringo County also awaits a mini-poll to elect a new senator after the death of Senator William Cheptumo in February this year.
