Wajir woman representative Fatuma Abdi Jehow has stirred national outrage after publicly claiming that leaders from the North-Eastern region are prepared to rig the 2027 General Election in favour of President William Ruto.

Fatuma, speaking during the 60th anniversary of Wajir High School on Saturday, July 12, described the day as truly special, praising the school’s remarkable legacy as the oldest educational institution in the area and its vital role in empowering generations through education.

The MP extended heartfelt commendation to Ruto, the Ministry of Education, the Private Sector, the Wajir High School Alumni Association, the county government of Wajir, and all well-wishers for their collective support in making the celebration a success and advancing the school’s development.
"Your contributions are laying the foundation for a conducive learning atmosphere, securing the academic future of the next generation," she said.
Will Fatuma Jewoh rig the 2027 elections?
She stated that the support for Ruto from the North-Eastern region is unwavering.
According to her, even if the region lacks sufficient votes, they would still ensure his victory, by any means necessary.
“As MPs from North Eastern, as I speak from Wajir, we don’t talk much. When it comes to the president, we say, ‘two-term.’ We’re just waiting for the ballot. Even if we don’t have votes, we’ll steal for him… that’s no secret,” she said.
Her remarks sparked widespread backlash online, with many Kenyans demanding her censure and raising serious concerns about the credibility of Kenya’s electoral process ahead of 2027.

The statement came amid rising political temperatures, with succession debates dominating national discourse.
The united opposition, led by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, alongside a vocal section of Gen Z youth, vowed to block Ruto from securing a second term.
Amid their political discussions, concerns over possible election rigging have grown, especially as Ruto maintains a firm stance on seeking re-election.
What did Kithure Kindiki say about rigging in 2027?
In response to growing fears, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki addressed the issue while speaking in Kuria East, Migori county.

He dismissed allegations that the Kenya Kwanza government is planning to interfere with the 2027 elections.
“The IEBC is an independent institution that cannot be manipulated. These accusations reflect panic in the opposition,” Kindiki said.
He assured Kenyans that the government intends to run on its development record rather than propaganda.
“We don’t need favours from the IEBC. Our strategy is built on delivery,” he added.
