“We expect, as the top leader in Isiolo County, that you will sit down with your senator, even if through a third party, and reconcile with the county assembly,” Kingi told Guyo.

Now in an effort to mend fences with MCAs who championed for his impeachment, Guyo on Saturday, July 12, held a meeting with seven ward representatives.

The embattled governor told TUKO.co.ke that the meeting was the beginning of reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving issues impeding development in the county.

“We are ready and willing to meet all concerned parties to solve these issues and work for the people of Isiolo. This is the beginning of our reconciliation,” Guyo said.

Guyo disclosed that he intends to meet with all leaders in the county, including his perceived enemies, to ensure devolution works.

“I urge all to forget the past and join us in ensuring we deliver. We have a mandate to deliver, and it is imperative we do it,” he added.

How did Abdi Guyo survive impeachment?

The reconciliation efforts come days after he survived an impeachment at the Senate on technicalities.

On Tuesday, July 8, most senators expressed the view that there was insufficient evidence to confirm that the Isiolo County Assembly had convened a session to discuss and vote on the motion aimed at removing Governor Guyo from office.

Guyo's legal team had filed a preliminary objection, arguing that the impeachment, as claimed by members of the Isiolo County Assembly, had not actually occurred.

After a heated debate, 31 senators voted to support Guyo's argument that no sitting was held to oust him from office.

As reported earlier, 16 out of 18 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) voted to remove Guyo from office over abuse of office.
