He further took the opportunity to call out the Kenya Kwanza government while accusing it of deceiving Kenyans by using the Christian religion during the 2022 General Election campaigns.
Why won't Matiang'i form new political party?
During an interview with K24 on Monday, July 14, the former Interior Cabinet secretary stated that rather than forming a political party, his main agenda is to enlist the help of well-meaning Kenyans.
"All of us need to stand together. Kenyans are tired of being pushed into political groups. This is something that all of us have agreed on," Matiang'i said.
He further stated that he is carrying out in-depth consultations with different parties to see the political party he will affiliate himself with in his race to the presidency.
"With many parties, unless we are serious about our future, we shall be going around forming new parties as if it's baptism. Kenyans should evaluate leaders, not parties. When the time comes, I will announce my political party," he added.
Matiang'i further affirmed that he has no political scores to settle as he seeks to unseat President William Ruto in the upcoming elections.

He affirmed that his main aim is to serve the country and alleviate the problems that Kenyans are currently facing.
"I have no political debts. I have only one agenda, which is to fix the challenges that face my country and move forward," he said.
Matiang'i stated that he believes that he is the best candidate to take over the reins of the country and propel its economy forward.
The politician's move is contrary to other members of the opposition, who resorted to forming political parties ahead of the elections.
Former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, formed the Democracy for the Citizens Party after publicly announcing his move to leave President Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Senior counsel Martha Karua also rebranded her party from Narc Kenya to the People's Liberation Party to resonate more with Gen Z. Kalonzo Musyoka was not left behind, changing his party name from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Patriotic Front.

He stated that he was still carrying out consultations with a range of political players before settling on a party.
The politician disclosed that he was in talks with at least eight political parties before he could settle on one.
