Okenyuri emerged as the winner in the best-nominated legislator category by the Bobea Leadership Awards.

Sabina Chege of the Jubilee Party emerged as the runner-up during the event held at the KCB Leadership Centre.

The youthful nominated senator said the prestigious award reminds her that the impact of one's work is the true legacy.

Okenyuri said the recognition affirms her belief in three basic ingredients of effective leadership: integrity, public trust and dedication.

"This award is a celebration of integrity, public trust and dedication; three ingredients that are key in achieving effective leadership. I receive this crown with a lot of humility and it will definitely not be the last. I am encouraged to continue fulfilling my mandate as nominated senator, powered by endless selflessness," Okenyuri told TUKO.co.ke.

While thanking people who have supported her leadership journey, Okenyuri pledged to continue initiating transformative projects in the community through her Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation.

"I also undertake to continue revolutionising the community through programmes under the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation. I especially thank all of you who have supported me in my leadership journey; I am forever indebted. What a great honour, what a recognition!," she added.

Which award did Millie Odhiambo win?

During the award, National Assembly Minority Whip and Suba North lawmaker Millie Odhiambo was named the best-performing female MP in legislation and oversight, with Likoni lawmaker Mishi Mboko emerging second.

The lawmakers did not grace the occasion, but they sent their representatives to receive the awards.

ODM nominated senator Crystal Asige won the honorary award as the most outstanding legislator.

During the 2025 Bobea Leadership Award, Halima Abdul was named the best emerging female leader in the country.

Who is the best-performing governor?

As reported, Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi was crowned the best-performing governor, while his Homa Bay counterpart, Gladys Wanga, emerging second.

Wamatangi's supporters, including Kiambu County Assembly majority leader Godfrey Mucheke Waiyaki, cited his impactful development record and transformative projects during his nearly three-year term.

The award for best-performing senator went to Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi county, with Boni Khalwale of Kakamega taking second place.

At the national government level, Cabinet Secretary for the Blue Economy, Ali Hassan Joho, was recognised as the best CS.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi was also honoured for his leadership in the national government.
