According to the ODM party chairperson, Ruto cannot be removed from office except through an election in 2027.
“An opposition must have an agenda; its agenda cannot simply be Ruto must go. He cannot go without an election because we are a democratic country. So we will defend him because he can only go through an election. So don't tell us about 'Ruto must go' because he will go nowhere,” Wanga said.
Wanga lauded Ruto's administration, saying most of the programmes are working, such as the Social Health Authority and the construction of roads.
Does ODM regret supporting William Ruto?
The Homa Bay governor declared that Raila Odinga's party has no apology for joining the broad-based government, arguing that development and unity should take precedence over disruptive politics.
“We have agreed to work together with President William Ruto, and we have no apologies. We will support him and the government’s programmes to move the country forward,” the governor added.
The ODM chair further backed recent dialogue calls by the former prime minister, noting that many problems facing the country can only be resolved through dialogue.
“People are feeling that things are not going right. Some people are feeling otherwise, and our party leader, Honourable Odinga, has proposed the way forward,” she noted.
The former prime minister has been advocating for an intergenerational conclave to resolve issues raised by Gen Zs.
However, opposition leaders and some sections of human rights organisations have opposed the calls by Raila.

What does 'Ruto must go' mean?
Meanwhile, the former deputy president issued a statement explaining the meaning of 'Ruto must go' movement.
In his statement, the former Mathira lawmaker rubbished claims by some quarters that Kenyans chanting "Ruto must go" want to remove the president through unconstitutional means.
According to Gachagua, Kenyans adopted the slogan to register their dissatisfaction with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The slogan is only being used to remind Ruto that he is unwanted, and it does not mean they will remove him from office through reconstitution means.
He stated that Kenyans are aware of the provisions of the constitution and that they are only waiting for the 2027 poll to vote out Ruto.
