Speaking during the Talanta-bell ringing event at the National Security Exchange on Wednesday, July 23, Ruto likened the 'Ruto Must Go' slogan to conmanship.

He questioned the agenda of those pushing for him to leave office. Ruto argued that the more he listened to those pushing the slogan, the more he discovered that their agenda is not about offering Kenyans an alternative plan.

"...respectfully, sirs, madams, let me ask you. What are your reasons for this 'Ruto Must Go'? I am sure it is not because of the spelling of his name. Maybe because you don't agree with the ideas, policies and the plan he has for our nation, which is okay," Ruto said.
"Hey, we cannot replace a plan you don't like with nothing, and I hear my friends say, let Ruto go, then we will figure it out, and we will tell you what the alternative plan is. To me, that sounds like the wash wash conmanship," Ruto said.

"If you seriously have a plan that does better for the economy than I have, that does better than I have, that does better on creating jobs than I have. That does better on education than I have, you should be bold enough to tell us," he said.

He argued that the nicknames they give him, like Kasongo and pushing for slogans like 'Wantam' and 'Ruto Must Go', are not enough

"Sorry, guys, you have to come up with a better plan. Sloganeering is not enough. The more I listen to them, the more I hear them say, Let's go back to NHIF, that never worked or Let's go back to the old model that crippled our universities. Let's abolish housing, let's do away with SHA. To me, they sound like people who are accustomed to the status quo," Ruto argued.

This comes days after Ruto asked those against his leadership to propose the means through which he could leave power.

He labelled calls for his resignation from office as incitement, since they lack clear democratic solutions.

Ruto's sentiments came days after chaotic protests were witnessed in at least 24 counties during the Gen Z demonstrations anniversary on Wednesday, June 25.
