What did Gachagua say about Sam Mburu?

The former DP claimed Mburu's influence in the county stemmed from a close business relationship with President William Ruto.

However, speaking on Wednesday, July 23, Kihika accused Gachagua of trying to incite Nakuru residents through tribalism.

The vocal Nakuru governor vowed not to allow the Gachagua team to incite residents, arguing that the devolved unit is a cosmopolitan county.

"I want to tell Gachagua that Nakuru County has no room for tribal games. Nakuru county is a cosmopolitan county, and as residents, we have no time for incitement through tribalism. So Gachagua should take his games to Wamunyoro, not here," Kihika declared.

Kihika dismissed the directives by the former deputy president to Nakuru residents not to reelect her in the upcoming 2027 General Election.

"And I also want to tell Gachagua to leave me alone. He is saying you will not vote for me as if he has your votes in his pocket. I want to tell them to come to Nakuru with moderate speed. That speed is what led MPs to impeach him," she noted.

Nakuru MCAs warn Rigathi Gachagua over attack on Governor Kihika’s husband: “We will not tolerate”

How did Susan Kihika respond to Gachagua's claims?

The Nakuru governor denied claims by Gachagua that her husband has been issuing illegal orders to the police.

According to Kihika, her husband is a civilian, who under the law, has no powers to direct police on operational matters.

"Now what is he asking about my husband? He is just a normal Kenyan who holds no elective post. He claims my husband has been directing police, yet he is just a civilian. Gachagua was once a local administrator, and he knows well that no civilian can issue orders to the police, so he is just an inciter," she stated.

Kihika, who appeared agitated, claimed Gachagua has been attempting to extort Mt. Kenya businesspeople, including her husband.

"You are an extortionist; you thought intimidating my husband and other Mt Kenya businesspeople would make them give you money. What are you demanding from my husband? You’re an extortionist. You tried that nonsense before and he put you in your place. He’s man enough to stand up to your intimidation,” stated Kihika.
