Looks like President William Ruto might secure a re-election in 2027 even without the Mt. Kenya votes, according to political analyst and commentator Herman Manyora.

While speaking to the press on Monday, July 28, Manyora seemingly hinted at the low likelihood of Ruto retaining his seat if he picks his current deputy, Kithure Kindiki, as his running mate.
How can William Ruto be re-elected?
He stated that the only possible way for Ruto to win the elections fair and square is by picking a muslim running mate.
"He could go for a Muslim candidate. Those are five million votes that can wipe out Mt. Kenya's supremacy in terms of numbers," Manyora argued.
The head of state's popularity in Mt. Kenya dwindled following former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment from office in 2024.
Since then, Ruto and his allies have experienced hostility in some parts of the region.
There are instances when residents would decline to listen to his message, while at other times, he was heckled.
However, Ruto has been trying to make amends with the people of Mt. Kenya by making tours and taking projects to the region.
Kindiki has also been touring the region in a bid to help the Kenya Kwanza government reconcile with Mt. Kenya.
Will William Ruto drop Kithure Kindiki?
Manyora, on the other hand, predicted doom for Kindiki as the political landscape continues to take shape ahead of the highly anticipated polls.

Manyora stated that the head of state is likely to drop Kindiki as his running mate and pick someone new.
According to Manyora, Kindiki adds little value to Ruto's re-election, especially compared to his predecessor, Gachagua, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the former prime minister Raila Odinga.
Manyora stated that there is a great possibility that Ruto would pick a more strategic partner to help secure a second term in office.
